Behind the Design: Why Details Matter

Behind the Design: Why Details Matter

Designing something that feels effortless and beautiful is strangely complicated but also fun.

The truth: the pieces that look the easiest are usually the most thought-through. Tiny decisions stack up. A millimeter here, a stitch there. Suddenly a shirt either feels magical... or it hangs on your body like it has absolutely no idea what it’s doing.
The Gabby is that with a little rebellion mixed in.

It came from a desire for something with a personality, less commercial.

And Paris is where it began....

I bought a few shirts there that had a ton of incredible detail.. pintucks, lace, soft volume, and they weren’t loud about it. They just had this ease. That Paris thing where everything looks effortless, but you know it’s not accidental.

That became the thread through the story. The romance, the history, the way the city dresses with such ease.

We brought those pieces back to the design team, and they essentially dissected the details. What’s actually happening here? Why do these feel so good? And how do we fit that into our world so it still feels like us?

We got a little obsessive about it...

The Gabby fit is clean. The silhouette is simple. But the details are what make it stunning.

The pintucks give it structure so it doesn’t just hang there. The lattice adds dimension and lightness. The sleeve has just enough volume to feel feminine, but it’s mellow. It doesn’t take over the whole look.

It’s romantic, but still easy even beachy. It’s also one of those pieces that shifts depending on who’s wearing it.

Throw it on with boardshorts or Adidas trackpants and it leans cool, a little tomboy, full steeze. Button it up with denim or a trouser and it goes softer, more fem, more elevated.
Same shirt. Completely different energy.

We wanted something you reach for the way you reach for your Dylan, or Taylor, or Elliott, but with a little more polish, dare I say edgy femme. Something that makes you feel a bit more romantic, a bit more elevated... but still completely like yourself.

I don’t do big puff sleeves. And somehow this one works.

It can go a lot of directions.

Some pieces need an outfit. This one is the outfit.

And somewhere in there, without trying too hard, it brings a little piece of Paris into your closet.
