Design Diaries: The Summer of Wonder Capsule

Design Diaries: The Summer of Wonder Capsule
When I’m building a capsule, I don’t start with trends.
I start with a suitcase.
Specifically: a carry-on. One week. Somewhere warm. And the very real desire to not overpack.
For this capsule, the brief was simple and slightly ambitious:
Ten pieces. Plus swim.
Everything you need for a week-long tropical vacation.
That’s it.
No “extra just in case” dress.
 No backup sandals.
No pieces that only work once.
If it doesn’t earn its spot, it doesn’t go.

The 10-Piece Rule
When you limit yourself to ten pieces, clarity shows up fast.
Every item has to:
• Mix with almost everything else
 • Work from day to night
 • Be comfortable in heat
 • Travel well
 • Feel beautiful without trying
Swim is the foundation. It’s not an afterthought on a tropical trip. It’s what you’re living in half the time. So we start there, then build outward.
Over swim: a lightweight layer.
To coffee: easy bottoms + a tank.
To dinner: the same bottoms, different top.
To the beach: the dress, thrown on and tied differently.
You’re not packing outfits. You’re packing possibilities.

Color First. Always.
We built this capsule around a tight color story: white, gold, black, and dusk.
That’s intentional.
When the palette is focused, everything speaks the same language.
White keeps it fresh.
 Black grounds it.
 Gold warms it up.
Dusk adds depth without feeling heavy.
Neutrals do the heavy lifting. Then we layer in a print or texture that gives it personality.
This is where beauty comes in.

A bold feminine print in an elevated silhouette. A skirt that moves. A dress that skims instead of clings. A blouse with just enough volume in the sleeve to feel special.
The print is the exhale. The neutrals are the structure.
It’s that blend I’m always chasing.

The Silhouettes: Elevated, But Easy
Tropical dressing can go two ways.
Too casual and you feel underdone at dinner.
Too dressed up and you feel like you’re wearing a costume.
The sweet spot is ease with intention.
Wide-leg pants that breathe but still feel pulled together.
A tank that works tucked, untucked, layered, or solo.
A dress that can handle flat sandals at breakfast and a heeled sandal at night.
I want you to be able to change the vibe with accessories, not an entirely different outfit.
And comfort is non-negotiable.
If it wrinkles instantly, pulls when you sit, or feels fussy in humidity, it’s out. We wear-test everything the way you actually would. Flights. Long dinners. Salty mornings.
The real test is simple: do you forget you’re wearing it?
If yes, we’re close.
How 10 Pieces Become 20+ Outfits
Here’s where the magic happens.
One black tank.
 Two bottoms.
 One printed skirt.
 One easy dress.
 One lightweight sweater.
 One relaxed pant.
 One polished short.
 One blouse.
 One layer.
Plus swim.
Suddenly:
The tank works with every bottom.
The blouse dresses up the relaxed pant.
 The sweater softens the dress.
The skirt goes from beach cover-up to dinner with a different shoe.
You can wear the same pant three times and no one will notice. It’s the styling that shifts.
This is especially important for the woman who loves versatility. Show her five ways to wear something and she’ll pack lighter with confidence.
And for the woman who loves a little pop? The statement print or unexpected texture gives her that spark without overwhelming the whole story.

Why We’re Designing This Way
There’s a bigger shift happening behind the scenes.
We’re thinking less about single hero products floating on their own, and more about how pieces live together. How they support real wardrobes. Real travel. Real lives.
Apparel is where we can really show that. How something transitions. How it layers. How it earns its place beyond one moment.
Swim will always be core to who we are. But building capsules like this lets us empower women beyond the beach.
That’s the goal. Not just to sell a dress.
To make getting dressed easier.

What I Hope You Feel When You Pack It
I hope you lay the ten pieces out on your bed and feel calm.
Not overwhelmed. Not underprepared. Not like you forgot something.
I hope you mix them instinctively. Tie the skirt higher one night. Roll the pant once at the hem. Wear the dress twice in different ways. Throw the sweater over your shoulders when the sun drops.
I hope you realize you don’t need more.
Just better.
If you were leaving for seven days somewhere warm, could you do it in ten pieces?
I’d love to know what your non-negotiable would be.
