Sustainability Isn't A Feature - It's Our Foundation

Shop Recycled SwimMy commitment to these shorts is embarrassing. I've been buying them for years. Recently, I purchased a pair of 6" olive shorts to replace an existing pair that I'd worn out. I was horrified to discover that not only has Carve substituted the original corduroy for a flimsy fabric that is clingy instead of having the nice drape of good cord, but they've also changed the cut, adding an inch to the outseam and elongating the butt panel so that it is almost a high/low scenario vs just the normal bumping of the back to accommodate the butt. Additionally, the bottom seams on my four-year-old destroyed shorts are in better shape than the bottom seams on the new shorts. I'm flabbergasted that Carve would ruin their signature product. It's been bad enough that the color choices the last few years have been weird and lacked the whimsy and charm of their early years, but swapping the cord for this new stuff, complete with the bad sewing and the new cut of the shorts will prevent me from buying from them again. I really hope that they return these shorts to their former glory. They've been a wardrobe staple of mine and many of my friends for years. Photos below to show what I'm talking about. The darker shorts are the new shorts, which I will say, is a nice green. I really hope that Carve will decide to restore these shorts the quality product that they once were.
good shorts
I absolutely am crazy about these shorts, the color is RICH with a nice subtle sheen. They are super soft and comfortable and they have a slight amount of stretch. They are the most comfortable shorts I have. I got two other pair in the light green and these are my go to!
I purchased the shorts in the color Quarry. My normal size is 4. Size 4 was too small. Exchanged for size 6 and they feel baggy. Really nice quality just wish I could get the size right
I have been buying these shorts for years. First the 4” inseam and now the 6” as I have aged. I ordered the Coffee. Corduroy is REALLY thin and cheap looking now. The raw hem had white threads stuck in stitching. I have a pair of black from a couple of years ago, and they are way bette all around. Inconsistent has always been an issue. When I used to order 4”, I was a 2,4. My older pair of 6”, a 0. I tried a zero in Coffee, too tight. A size 2 loose waist, tight thighs. 5’2”, 105# athletic build.
For the price point and lack of quality, I will no longer be purchasing.
