Celebrating Mother's Day With Kimzie Luong

Celebrating Mother's Day With Kimzie Luong

At Carve, we believe in celebrating every version of motherhood — messy, magical, and everything in between. As mothers ourselves, we know balance isn’t a destination — it’s a daily act of courage, community, and filling your own cup. This Mother’s Day, we’re celebrating one of our own: Kimzie Luong — mother, designer, ocean advocate, and all-around force of nature.

Kimzie Luong is a designer, entrepreneur, and ocean advocate known for her distinctive surf-inspired style and passion for sustainability. Originally from Texas, Kimzie studied at FIDM in California before launching her own fashion brand rooted in coastal living.

Now based on the North Shore of Oahu, she draws daily inspiration from island life— surfing, shell diving, and exploring the ocean and island with her young daughter, Moxie. A longtime advocate for sustainable living, Kimzie brings her values to everything she creates.

She recently opened a boutique featuring a curated collection of vintage mumu's, celebrating Hawaiian culture and slow fashion. Deeply connected to her community, Kimzie continues to inspire through her creativity, activism, and love for the sea.

“It’s been one of the biggest challenges of my life, finding that balance of motherhood, work, and me time. I’m still figuring it out. But I have noticed the easiest days are the days we spend at the beach. Toddlers can really be all consuming and trying to make time for anything is a challenge. Like home life: cooking, cleaning, hobbies you once did. Let alone squeezing in time to run my business. It can feel like most days are mentally and emotionally draining while being overstimulated and by midweek you’re close to a burnout/meltdown. The only way I found to balance that is to make sure my cup is full. And I always find it fills the most while at the beach.

Whether surfing, swimming, shelling, etc. I can’t usually surf with her but I’m fortunate to have met some amazing moms that are super supportive, and we’ll sometimes surf swap. But solo beach time is really nice to find that peace to get grounded again so that I can be more present when spending time with my toddler, husband, and friends. It’s also a plus and fills my cup whenever we spend the day at the beach together versus trying to get all my chores done while chasing a toddler around. The chores become less important when my cup is full, which goes hand and hand with the beach. So I’m so lucky to live in paradise and be surrounded by a great community while I navigate motherhood 🫶 “ - Kimzie Luong (mother / designer / entrepreneur)
