Meet Kat, Cali native and Carve mom who believes that reconnecting with nature isn't just a personal practice—it's a legacy worth passing down. For Kat, sustainability isn't just an Earth Day commitment—it's woven into the fabric of daily life. "Our society has fallen away from living with nature," she reflects, "forgetting that the simple things bring happiness to our lives." Her car tells the story of her values: reusable mugs, shopping bags, and Tupperware always at the ready. But Kat's most important work happens through her son's eyes at the shoreline. Today we're honored to feature Katharine Gerhardt - sustainability advocate, mother, surfer and Carve Designs' brand ambassador.
Her approach is refreshingly straightforward and creative: explain sustainability in "little bite-size nuggets" that children can absorb, and make environmental stewardship feel like a meaningful contribution rather than a chore. "Making it fun is important," Kat explains, "and making it something that he feels like he's contributing and making a difference."
Keeping Mother Earth Happy & Healthy
Sustainability isn't just our buzzword—it's our religion, baby. Born with sand between our toes and salt in our DNA, we know this gorgeous blue marble deserves more than our Instagram posts — it deserves our respect, innovation, and downright obsession. That's why we've turned eco-consciousness into an art form, with a mind-blowing 95% of our line flaunting recycled, upcycled, and organic materials that Mother Nature herself would high-five us for.
Our organic denim sips water more conservatively than a camel headed cross-country, while our recycled polyester pieces rescue 20-35 bottles from landfill purgatory, creating karma so good you could bottle it. Because like Kat and her beach-cleaning kiddo comrade, we know that small actions create serious ripples, and looking good while doing good is the ultimate power move. Happy Earth Day from our sun-soaked, sustainably-clothed family to yours. May your adventures be epic and your carbon footprint be tiny.
From 100% of our swim collection made from sustainable materials to our Coconut Balsa fabric—the love child of discarded husks and recycled plastic that performs miracles that would make a televangelist blush —we're reimagining what sustainable fashion can be.
