The material is heavenly. It's light and literally perfect for summer. For the record, I'm 5'11 (50 yrs old) and 170 lbs. I typically wear a 10 long. So as u can imagine, I was excited to find an alternative to Jean shorts or bermudas that are boring and mostly unflattering, at least on me. Unfortunately, like other reviews, they were just a smidge on the tight side. I like a little more room. Even though other users stated they loosen up a bit after wearing them, that initial tightness is a no on this mom bod. I sent them back and ordered a 12. Other reviews said 10 was too tight 12 was too big. I have a plan. I have a seamstress (necessary for us taller gals) that I'm going to take them to if this is an issue. I'm willing to spend extra on these because they truly are wonderful shorts and I plan on wearing the heck out of them this summer. I also will have my seamstress take the hem up to 8 in. I'm not sure why 8 inch shorts are difficult to find. Yes, that 1 inch matters when your body no longer agrees with the 6 in shorts anymore. 8 inches is a perfect compromise and I'd rather have the length and not need it, then need it and not have it, which is often my situation.

I bought these exact same high waist shorts in size 6 previously and thought they were a little small so I ordered the exact same high waist pair in citron and cumin in size 8 and guess what??? The size 8s fit SMALLER than the size 6. DON’T BUY unless you can exchange. I learned my lesson.
